A halal-first marriage app · سكينة

Made for marriage.
Not for swiping.

Sakinah is a private space for practicing Muslims who are serious about nikah. Every profile read and approved by a person. Every photo veiled until you both choose each other. Every match weighted toward deen. And the first message — she sends it.

Opening first in New Jersey — once 50 brothers and 50 sisters are in.

Swipe apps are built to keep you swiping. Sakinah is built to make itself unnecessary.

The best outcome we can imagine is losing you — to a marriage.

Why Sakinah

Everything a swipe app gets wrong, rebuilt on purpose.

Veiled until it's mutual

Photos stay covered until you both say yes. People meet your character first — your values, your voice, your intentions — and see your face only when the interest is real and returned.

On Sakinah, both sides tap "interested" before either photo unveils.

She speaks first

After a mutual match, the sister opens the conversation. No flooded inboxes, no cold messages from strangers — every conversation on Sakinah is one she chose to begin.

Your wali, welcomed

Every profile can name a wali — a guardian. Involve family from the first conversation, not as an afterthought. This process was never meant to be walked alone.

Reviewed by a person

Every profile is read and approved by a human before it goes live. While we are small, that human is the founder. If something feels wrong, you can report it for review.

Compatibility that starts with deen

Introductions consider prayer, practice, and marriage timeline. Each profile shows where your stated preferences align, so you can decide what matters to you.

Voice before face

Every profile carries a short voice intro. Hear how someone speaks about what matters to them — warmth carries in a voice long before a photo.

The path

Four steps. No games.

01

Apply

Your profile is read and approved by a person before it goes live. Everyone inside came through the same door.

02

Tell your story

Your values, your practice, your intentions, your voice — and, if you choose, your wali. Photos upload veiled.

03

Meet, veiled

We introduce you by compatibility, deen first. You read each other before you see each other.

04

She begins. Veils lift.

When it's mutual, the sister sends the first message — and your photos open to each other. From there, it's in Allah's hands and yours.

سكينة

sakinah — the tranquility Allah places between spouses.

“And of His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves, that you may find tranquility in them…” — Qur'an 30:21

That's the standard we build to.

Trust & safety

Built like a guarded gathering, not an open feed.

Every profile behind the door was read by a person.

Approved by hand, one at a time. Slow on purpose.

The veil is the default.

Your photos are never public, never browsable, never shown to anyone you haven’t mutually matched with.

Family has a seat.

You can privately record wali details while preparing your profile. Choose when to involve family; contact details are never shown in introductions.

Humans hold the line.

Real people review reports and profiles.

Your profile is visible only to approved members inside Sakinah — never public, never indexed by search engines.

Where & when

Opening city by city. Balanced — or not at all.

We're starting with Muslim students and alumni across New Jersey. Our first goal is 50 brothers and 50 sisters. We'll consider where people live, their preferences, and readiness before sending invitations. Reaching a number alone doesn't open the app. The counts below reflect waitlist signups.

Not nearby? Join anyway — you'll help us choose what opens next.

To our first goal: 48 brothers · 49 sisters.

Live signup counts. Profiles are reviewed before admission.

Asked, answered.

When does Sakinah open?

When the waitlist reaches roughly 50 brothers and 50 sisters. The live count is on this page — no hidden timeline, no fake countdown. Waitlist members are invited first, in order.

Why do photos stay veiled?

Because faces distort judgment and invite the wrong attention. Veiling until a mutual match protects modesty, puts character first, and means your photos are only ever seen by someone who already chose you.

Why does the sister send the first message?

It re-balances a dynamic every other app gets wrong. Sisters aren't buried in unwanted messages, and brothers know that every conversation that starts, started because she wanted it to.

Do I need a wali to join?

No — listing a wali is optional, and encouraged.

How do you keep fake profiles out?

Every profile is reviewed by a person before it goes live — while we are small, that is the founder reading each one. Automated identity checks come later, as the community grows.

I'm not in New Jersey. Should I still join?

Yes. Tell us your state when you join — the waitlist is how we decide which area opens next.

Does joining the waitlist cost anything?

No. The waitlist is free, and we'll be clear about membership pricing before the doors open.

Who sees my information?

Individual waitlist entries are private. Inside the app, your profile is visible to approved members in open regions, subject to blocking and profile availability.

Your search deserves sakinah.

Hold your place among the first fifty. Bring the community that opens the doors.
